Privacy policy

Declutter is made by Maciej Stosio, Poland ("I"). The short version: your photos never leave your Mac, and nothing the app sends can identify you or what's in your library.

Your photos

Declutter reads your Photos library only on your Mac, through macOS's Photos access that you grant. The AI model, the similarity grouping and the quality scoring all run locally. Photos, thumbnails, the analysis results and anything derived from them are stored only on your Mac, in the app's data folder, and are never uploaded anywhere.

What the app sends

• Model download. On first launch the app downloads the AI model (EmbeddingGemma 2 by Google) from GitHub, or from Hugging Face if GitHub is unavailable. These services see an ordinary download request, including your IP address.
• Update checks. The app checks GitHub for new versions at launch and every few hours, and downloads updates from there.
• Freed-space counter. After you remove photos, the app sends the number of bytes freed and the number of photos removed to declutter.maciekstosio.com, which adds them to the public total on this website. No identifier, device information or photo information is included. The server uses your IP address only to limit how often reports can be sent, in memory, and doesn't store it. You can turn this off in the app's Settings.
• License activation. If you enter a license key, the app sends the key and your Mac's name to Lemon Squeezy to activate it, and occasionally re-checks it. This lets you see and manage which Macs use your license.

The app contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services.

Purchases

Licenses are sold by Lemon Squeezy, who act as the merchant of record: they process your payment and handle tax, and receive your name, email address, billing country and payment details. Their handling of that data is described in the Lemon Squeezy privacy policy. I receive your name, email address, country and order details, and use them to deliver and support your license.

This website

This website is hosted on Cloudflare. It uses no cookies, analytics or tracking. Cloudflare processes requests, including IP addresses, to serve the site and protect it from abuse.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data I hold about you (in practice, purchase records), and you can complain to your data protection authority (in Poland, the UODO). Write to support@maciekstosio.com.

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
